Arthritis Pain

In 2018, in Ba Na Hills, Vietnam, builders put up a huge pair of stone hands to hold up a golden bridge. Time Magazine called it one of the “world’s greatest places.” Soon after the bridge opened, the COVID-19 pandemic took the excitement out of the new project. The pandemic acted like a black hole. It sucked the life out of the new Vietnam bridge and caused chaos in workplaces around the world.
Because of the pandemic, many people had time to think about their relationships and value them during the shutdown. Some began working from home. Others saw they needed more education to work in a place that fit their needs. What if, in this more online and remote workplace, your hands began to hurt more? One patient came to me for acupuncture because of new arthritis pain in both hands. He was a systems analyst, and he said he had lost about 30% of the use of his hands and the pain had grown over the past year. We were not sure acupuncture would help, but we were hopeful, and we began treatment. I found that his pain got worse because of the stress of life ramping back up (stuck Liver Qi, meaning stuck energy in the liver) and some grief over the damage the pandemic caused (weak Lung Qi, meaning low energy in the lungs). With just 5 treatments, this patient had fully recovered from his hand pain. His final report was zero out of ten on the pain scale (10 being the worst pain). Now his hands and his life are working at full strength, and he can look forward to traveling to the Golden Hands Bridge.
